charity fundraisers
For many years it has been very important to us to use the Altwiener Märkte to raise awareness of how important HELP is for people in need and people who are ill. This charitable spirit has already helped many organizations.
They range from the Österreichische Muskelforschung, the Angelman Verein, Keks Österreich, the Rett-Syndrom-Gesellschaft, the Österr. Knochenmarkspendezentrale, Herzkinder Österreich, CS Hospiz Rennweg, MOMO and Wiener Hilfswerk to the Schmetterlingskinder.
These are just a few of the associations that have already received generous support.
Every year, donations are collected at the "chocolate stall" for a different good cause. At the 2026 Easter market, the organizer would like to dedicate its traditional charity fundraiser to the association "Österreichische Rett-Syndrom Gesellschaft (ÖRSG)"!
Support for the association "Österreichische Rett-Syndrom Gesellschaft (ÖRSG)"
Rett syndrome is a genetic, progressive neurodevelopmental disorder that results in severe intellectual and physical disability. Typical of Rett syndrome are the hand-washing movements of those affected. Rett syndrome was first described in 1966 by the Viennese physician Dr. Andreas Rett (1924–1997). A mutation of the MECP2 gene was identified as the cause of Rett syndrome. Classification ICD-10 | F84.2
Main criteria for Rett syndrome:
* Loss of purposeful hand use
* Hand washing, clapping or biting
* Loss of acquired language skills
* Gait disturbances or inability to walk

Our charity stalls
No. 32: Hot chocolate by Zotter
Drinking chocolates and Easter chocolates by Zotter, pastries & egg liqueur are available in exchange for a donation. Our dedicated team of volunteers will lovingly stir your hot chocolate and present Zotter's colorful range of Easter chocolates.
No. 49: The Szigeti Sekt mobile
For Easter refreshment, the Sekt mobile of Sektkellerei Peter Szigeti is once again at the Altwiener Ostermarkt. It serves sparkling wine specialties from Gols in Burgenland, where the finest sun-ripened grapes are made into sparkling wine using the méthode traditionnelle. In addition, we serve crunchy snack eggs, coffee, Punschkrapferl & Biscuit Rosé by Szigeti from Gols.
On some afternoons, celebrity helpers will also be here to treat you to a sparkling glass of Sekt. All net proceeds go to the association “Österreichische Rett-Syndrom Gesellschaft (ÖRSG).”
